Science Communication

The Academy deals with the core issues of science communication, brings together expertise, provides fresh impetus, and explores the opportunities, challenges and limitations of modern, contemporary science communication. The aim is to convey scientific content in a way that is both understandable and trustworthy, to make uncertainties transparent, to reach new target groups, and to create spaces for dialogue to foster public engagement.

Digital Research

The Academy of Sciences and Literature | Mainz promotes digital research in the humanities and cultural studies. Through the Digital Academy, it develops innovative methods, digital resources and networks; trains early-career researchers on the “Digital Methodology” Master’s programme; and supports interdisciplinary projects in digitisation, data analysis and digital knowledge management.

Biotechnology

Rhineland-Palatinate’s biotechnology sector is characterised by a strong combination of scientific excellence and technological innovation. A dynamic ecosystem comprising renowned universities, universities of applied sciences and non-university research institutions forms a dense and state-of-the-art research infrastructure. This provides the foundation for cutting-edge research in key future-oriented fields of biotechnology.

The series brings together academics, cultural figures and decision-makers to discuss pressing issues of the future: AI, bioethics, social transformations, education, freedom, cultural identity and many more.

Music

At the Academy of Sciences and Literature | Mainz, music is brought to life, ranging from historical compositions to contemporary developments. Through projects, conferences and concerts, the Academy explores musicology and music, as well as their cultural and social significance. The aim is to promote an understanding of musical heritage and innovation, to open up new perspectives and to strengthen the dialogue between researchers, artists and the public.
