Fridays for Culture: Stephanie Zimmermann 'From My Personal Songbook'

The Academy of Sciences and Literature | Mainz cordially invites you to Stephanie Zimmermann's concert 'From My Personal Songbook' in the Kalkhof-Rose concert hall on 10 October at 7 p.m. The concert is part of the 'Fridays for Culture' series curated by René Fleck.

Sensitivity, clarity and a certain melancholy – these attributes characterise Stephanie Zimmermann's musical world. Guided by a preference for classical song forms, clear structures and vocal melodies, the pianist combines the language of jazz tradition with elements of piano music, Romanticism and the lyrical gestures of art song and chanson in her music.

In addition to her own compositions, the programme for this evening includes selected jazz standards and pieces by composers who have had a significant influence on the musician. A sense of aesthetics and attention to detail form the common thread that holds the contrasting influences together.
