Exclusive concert with guitarist Katie Spencer

The Academy of Sciences and Literature | Mainz cordially invites you to an exclusive concert by guitarist Katie Spencer in the Kalkhof-Rose-Saal on November 21 at 7:00 p.m. 

Katie Spencer grew up in East Yorkshire, England, surrounded by open skies and winding rivers. It is this sense of space and movement that runs through her confident guitar style and songwriting. With her distinctive deep vibrato and crystal-clear style, she makes the music unmistakably her own. Following her first two albums, Weather Beaten (2019) and The Edge of the Land (2022), she will release her new album, What Love Is, in October 2025; a lyrically mature, melodically sophisticated, and honest album. She moves effortlessly from expansive, jazzy soundscapes to the folk-baroque fingerpicking style that fans admire her for. Her powerful and authentic vocals give the entire album a liberated feel, resulting in a masterclass in inspired craftsmanship. Katie Spencer has toured Europe and Australia, among other places, and has performed at prestigious venues in the UK such as Portsmouth Cathedral and the Trades Club in Hebden Bridge. She has also performed at prestigious major folk festivals such as Celtic Connections and the Cambridge Folk Festival. This year, Katie continues to tour the UK and Europe, and in 2025 she represented the UK at the renowned Folk Alliance International Conference in Montreal, Canada.
