“Like stars standing next to stars” – Dante Constellations

Plenarsaal der Akademie

26. February 2026

19:00

Since its first recording by immediate contemporaries, Dante's Commedia has inspired countless readers. Over time, many artists have also engaged with Dante's magnum opus and incorporated their individual interpretations into the work of their great predecessor. In this literary and musical homage by the literature and music class, members of the class present their own Lectura Dantis, their personal perspective on Dante's Commedia, and engage in dialogue not only with Dante's text, excerpts of which are also heard in the original Italian, but also with musical interpretations of Dante's songs from different centuries.

The starting point for the event is the volume published in 2025 by Theresia Prammer – Lectura Dantis, which brings together contemporary readings between interpretation and adaptation in a conversation about Dante. Claudia Eder selected the musical pieces for the evening from the wide repertoire of musical interpretations of the Divina Commedia.
