Fridays for Culture: Jerry Lu "Great American Songbook"

Kalkhof-Rose-Saal

13. November 2026

19:00

"Jerry Lu's respectful arrangements of standards from the Great American Songbook shine in their melodious beauty and at the same time undergo a refreshingly modern interpretation. His music presents itself directly and without detours, and it would be all too easy to overlook its profundity – so catchy and elegant is it, so light as a feather, so casually do the melodies and rhythms flow into one another. But with each subsequent listen, one becomes more and more amazed. Between sparkling chords and rapid runs, he places the decisive accents with pinpoint precision and gives the right tone its effect at the right time.
Jerry Lu is THE outstanding jazz pianist of the younger generation in Germany! He is deeply rooted in tradition, but at the same time stands for fresh and modern straight-ahead jazz. In addition to his keyboard skills, Jerry is also an outstanding composer." (Martin Sasse)
