High honor for members of the Academy

The Academy of Sciences and Literature | Mainz warmly congratulates its members Antje Boetius and Christoph Markschies on their admission to the Pour le mérite order. They were elected as new members at the order's meeting on September 28, 2025, in Münster, together with singer-songwriter and poet Wolf Biermann.

Admission to the Order Pour le mérite is one of the highest honors that can be bestowed upon a scientist or artist in Germany. The Order now has a total of 36 domestic and 37 foreign members, including 17 Nobel Prize winners.
