Public keynote lecture 'Cultural heritage in the digital transformation' with Frédéric Döhl (ISS 2025)

The Academy of Sciences and Literature | Mainz invites you to a public keynote lecture by PD Dr Dr Frédéric Döhl on 7 October at 6 p.m. He will speak on the topic of 'Cultural Heritage in the Digital Transformation'. He will discuss the German National Library's 'Strategy 2035,' which serves as a guide to a new understanding of the role of memory institutions. Döhl is a strategy advisor at the General Directorate of the German National Library and a private lecturer at the Institute for Theatre Studies at the Free University of Berlin. At HERMES, a cooperation partner of the ISS, he heads the Formate Transfer Workshop and Research Study Programme.

The keynote speech will be followed by a networking evening.

The events are part of the International Summer School (ISS) on the topic of 'From Collecting to Discovering: Data Literacy for GLAM and Science.' The ISS serves as an introductory week for students of the Master's programme 'Digital Methodology in the Humanities and Cultural Studies'. The focus is on imparting practical and theoretical knowledge related to data management, analysis and interpretation, especially in dealing with digital data from galleries, libraries, archives, museums (GLAM) and research projects in the humanities and cultural studies.
