Project Description

The project ›Humanist Computer Interaction auf dem Prüfstand‹ was jointly taken up by the Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz (JGU), the Mainz University of Applied Sciences and the Technical University Darmstadt. It is funded under the BMBF funding measure Validation of the Technological and Societal Innovation Potential of Scientific Research - VIP+ from 2017 to 2020. In this funding line, the project has a pioneering role as one of the first research concerns in the humanities.

The innovation goal of the project is to analyze and validate the potential of forms of use of virtual research environments in the humanities. By means of a process analysis of the joint processing of a humanities research field with digital research applications, novel application forms and collaboration models are to be identified and their further development initiated. To this end, 19 international research groups will be introduced to the various digital tools and content and their concrete usage practices and research processes within the virtual research environment will be investigated. Finally, reference models for the implementation and design of virtual scientific research projects as well as best practice recommendations for the structural and procedural linking of technical, methodological, and content-related work levels will be derived from the results of the investigation.

The Academy of Sciences and Literature | Mainz acts as a cooperation partner in this research project. Further information can be found on the homepage of the Mainz University of Applied Sciences.
