Online catalogue in the OPAC of Johannes-Gutenberg University Mainz
The catalogue comprises books from the year of acquisition 1950. However, up to the year of acquisition 2000 there are still some gaps in the collection (a more detailed search is possible at the card catalogue in the Academy's library).
Horst Oppel's Shakespeare Library
![Shakespeare_Kopie.jpg](fileadmin/_processed_/csm_Shakespeare_Kopie_72d793fe85.jpg)
At the beginning of the 1990s, the estate of Horst Oppel, a renowned German Anglicist and member of the Academy, was donated to the library. The estate contains more than 1000 volumes.
The collection of this Shakespeare researcher comprises not only a number of rare editions but also German and English secondary literature, including 19 works from the 19th century - in some cases first editions -, literary histories, German translations of Shakespeare's works, comparative studies, biographies and Oppel's own works.
The works are arranged systematically and can be consulted on request in the reading room of the library.
