›Unfremd‹ - Objects by Thomas Behling

In his image objects Thomas Behling works with the ideological heritage in the back of our heads, which often contradicts our conscious self-image. He takes up aspects of deception and invention, exaggerates and breaks them up to make the functioning of the illusion clear - with the result that behind the one, simple world view, another equally simplified model of the world often emerges. It interests him when he succeeds in striking precisely the boundary between seriousness and irony, between critical analysis and naive homage.
Thomas Behling, born in Hanover in 1979, studied fine arts at the FH Otterberg and later at the Hochschule für Künste Bremen in the class of Yuji Takeoka, with whom he graduated in 2006. Since 2003 Thomas Behling has regularly exhibited his work in solo and group exhibitions throughout Germany.
