Working Group for Legal Studies and Contemporary History at the Academy of Sciences and Literature Mainz

The working group was founded in 2012. It sees its goal in promoting the integration of the disciplinary cultures so that both disciplines can expand and share their perspectives on knowledge. In this, we are reacting to the dynamics of the last two decades, in which the relationship between state and economy, between government and parliament, and between society, law and politics has changed significantly transnationally. The end of the East-West conflict, the digital revolution and the dominance of the global financial market changed the patterns of orientation and standards of action for state and society. Since then, they have shown a fluid character, open to rapid change. The repercussions on the scientific system affect not only the natural, technical and economic sciences, but also the legal and historical disciplines in the humanities and social sciences. This is explained in more detail in the programme.
